Whatever your art interest or experience level  join us for casual, comfortable half-day sessions to learn and practice an exciting variety of arts and crafts.  Enjoy Barbara’s bright, spacious studio in Oracle, 35 miles northeast of Tucson (see instructions and map below). When you arrive, we’ll have light snacks and cool drinks, lots of art materials and wonderful learning experiences waiting for you.

APRIL

April 3 & 4–Drawing Intensive

  • Learn to observe and translate what you see onto paper.
  • Fee $100 for both days, all materials provided

April 17 & 18–Amazing Altered Books

  • Transform old books into something uniquely brand new.
  • Fee $115 for both days with all materials provided

April 24 & 25–Color Theory and Practice

  • Tame your color fears in two days of learning how to mix and match colors.
  • Fee $115 for both days with materials provided

May

May 1–Hand-Crafted All Occasion Cards

  • Make a dozen or more unique cards from traditional styles with stamps, punches, etc. to pop-ups, pockets and pinwheels
  • Fee $65 with all materials provided

May 8 & 9–Monotype Magic

  • Monotype is an easy printmaking process using simple tools to create fabulous artwork. You’ll learn how to do it and take away a series of small prints for your friends to admire.
  • Fee $115 with all materials provided

May 15 & 16–Collage Triptych

  • Get inspired, learn lots of techniques and get playful and spontaneous making three collages to take home.
  • Fee $115 with all materials provided

May 22 & 23–’Naked’ Paper Mache

  • Learn how to use paper mache to make a spherical bowl, a lost form vessel and a heart-of-hearts bauble. Beautiful natural materials will make each object unique.
  • Fee $115 with all materials provided

Workshops are held in Barbara Cowlin’s spacious studio in Oracle. The address is 952 W. Linda Vista Road. Here are directions from Tucson:

1) From Tucson, go north on Oracle Road (AZ 77) through Oro Valley and Catalina to Oracle Junction.
2) At Oracle Junction, stay on AZ 77 going east. Do not turn onto AZ 79.
3) Ten miles from Oracle Junction, bear right onto American Avenue at the well-marked intersection.
4) At the Circle K, turn right on Calle Futura.
5) From the stop sign at the T intersection, turn left, staying on Calle Futura.
6) Drive one mile to the Y in the road. Bear left to the stop sign at Linda Vista.
7) Turn left to the first driveway on the left.
