I can’t believe that my last post was on August 9. Where does the time go??? And this is going to be a short post, to boot. We are leaving tomorrow to travel to Northern Arizona and then cut across to New Mexico. A shortish 4 or 5 day trip. I’m hoping to see some great water reflections to inspire me on to creating more paintings for the reflection series.

I’ve spent quite a bit of time working on one of the Surprise reflection paintings. You can see the first go-round if you go back a few posts. At this point I can’t tell if I’m going backward or forward on this painting. I do know I have a lot more to do before it’s going to be finished. I’m not showing A Surprise in Surprise II because I haven’t done much on it. Somehow, I got all involved in Surprise I.

A Surprise in Surprise, Arizona

Making progress (?) on A Surprise in Surprise

In addition to spending time painting, my workshop series (with papermaker/bookmaker Val Bembenek) is coming up. If you’re curious about what we’re up to, just scroll up and click on the workshop tab. Several classes are full, but I’m still looking for a few drawing students! It’s a lovely drive to Oracle from Tucson. And not a bad drive from Phoenix either.

Other upcoming events are: the Tucson Open Studios Tour on November 12 & 13. I’ll be showing my work at the Drawing Studio in downtown Tucson. More details later. In addition, Art on American Avenue is coming up. This annual event is a combined effort of 10 or 15 Oracle artists. We set up shop in an empty space on American Avenue, opening after Thanksgiving and staying open until just before Christmas. Might I suggest that this is great way to support artists and get wonderful, unique gifts for the holidays. Last but not least, a group of Oracle artists will be showing our work at the Casa Grande Art Museum in March. Details on that later too.

The best part about all this showing is that it means I get to make more work!
